Institution: Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Institute of High Magnetic Fields

Topic: “Development and research of new high frequency dielectrophoresis-based electroporation technologies”

PhD in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, up to 4 years

The topic is transdisciplinary and consists of several work packages:

Compulsory:

  • Development of high power generator/system capable of handling high loads (>100 A) and generation of nanosecond range electrical pulses >3-4 kV with repetition frequency up to 10 MHz
  • Development of new applicators with distributed electrodes for induction of electroporation (EP) and dielectrophoresis (DEP) simultaneously or subsequently
  • Experimental testing of the developed system using at least two type of cells as a model

Optional:

  • Development and fabrication of a microfluidic chamber for testing of the DEP-based high frequency electroporation methodologies on a microscope stage

Expected result: New DEP-enhanced electrotransfer protocols and technological setups

Deadline for queries and application: Oct 1, 2018

Required prerequisite: MSc in Technological science or Engineering

Scholarship: 550 – 850 Eur/month after tax
