Brief presentation of the institution

EnergyPulse Systems, EPS, researches, develops, produces and sells pulsed power modulators for industrial applications based on state-of-the-art, high efficient semiconductors, assembled in very flexible and modular topologies. These modulators are capable of accommodating in-situ various operation parameters and load conditions. In addition, as standard low voltage commercially off-the-shelf components are used in its production, the equipment is very compact and portable.
 
EnergyPulse Systems designs technology to add value to several industrial sectors such as Food, Feed, Microbiology, CleanTech, Oil&gas, Automotive and health.
 
 

 

Main Electroporation related topics

The company has considerable experience in the food industry sector, where pulsed electric field are applied to enhance extraction of intracellular contents through  Electroporation, in juice concentrate, wine and olive oil. Ou technologie as been developed also for Microbial inactivation in several sectors like algae, wine and juice.

Our research is focussed in industrial scale adaptation of electroporation in food processes.

 

 

Main Electroporation related research techniques and equipment

The EPULSUS-PM1-10 is a semiconductor based positive Marx Modulator design with state-off-the art semiconductor technology projected for industrial operation. It has:

• Almost square wave pulse modulator for resistive and capacitive type loads

• Flexible pulse width and repetition rate operation

• Positive pulse voltage range up to 10 kV

• Peak current range up to 150 A

• Voltage pulse rise time 250 ns

• 3.5 kW maximum output power

• Short-circuit protection

Research topics, techniques and equipment not related to Electroporation

The main research areas are:

- development of solid-state based modulators;

- magnetic forming and cutting of Al foils;

- plasma based ion implantation for surface modification;

- discharges in water and gas for environmental purpose, clean-tech
