Brief presentation of the institution

Djillali Liabes university of Sidi-bel-Abbes city is one of the five largest and old universities in Algeria, composed of eight faculties (Sciences, Technology, Medicine, Social Sciences and humanities, natural sciences and life,Humanities, languages and art, and Law and political sciences), it is a national pole in Electrical Engineering, and it has international academic and industrial partnerships. It was selected by the ministry of higher education for the installation of a center among five centers of the Science and Technology that will be installed next years in the country, with high quality infrastructures and facilities.
In sight to integrate TD1104 Action, We are from two laboratories of Sidi-bel-Abbes University, One from the faculty of Technology (APELEC) and the other from the Medicine faculty (LRCE). We hope working together with our partners of the action in the technological and medical aspects of the project.
Applications of Plasma, Electrostatics and Electromagnetic Compatibility (APELEC) Laboratory is composed in majority by young researchers, 4 full professors and more than 20 researchers. The main fields of research are electrostatic applicationsin industrial separation of waste material, and in the environment for the treatment of gas and water by cold plasma. It has a significant experience in the field of intense electric fields and its applications, electric field evaluation and modeling. The members of the lab present regularly their research in scientific journals and conferences, more than 100 articles & communications and two national patents.
Cancer & environment Laboratory is composed of 4 full professors and 19 researchers in Medical and Biological sciences. The main fields of research are the cancer treatment, prevention and especially the impact of the pollution on health andcancerogenesis. The members of the lab present regularly their research in scientific journals and conferences, more than 100 articles & communications.

Research topics, techniques and equipment not related to Electroporation

APELEC Laboratory focuses their research on high voltage devices since 2000. The main research topics and devices not related to Electroporation are:

- Electrostatic separators of granular mixtures contaning particles of millimetric and micronic size of different nature, such as different plastics or plastic/metal granules.

- Electrostatic precipitators of fume gas: used for the filtration of polluted gas.

- Ozone generation process: ozone is a powerfull oxydant employed to kill bacteies and viruses. The ozone is produced by means of high voltage discharge by passing oxygen throw a 1-2 mm discharge gap.
